There is an incredibly stunning street art corner in Hue city, just 7 kilometers outside of Hue, called Hue Mural Village. For those of visitors who seek for more a free style art, quite different from many of the royal arts you see in Hue Citadel and in Emperors tombs, this should be a place in Hue to visit.

What is the story of Hue Mural Village?
A thirty-minute drive by motorbike West of Hue lies Hue Mural Village – find it location in map below.
It all started in 2017 by a group of more than 80 passionate Graffiti artists who joined in the Meeting of Style Event in Hue. Their plan was to turn two sides of a long wall on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street into a lively art scene with eye-catching colors.
A variety of subjects from animals, children’s favorite cartoon characters, strange-looking shapes and most importantly children figures were pictured on the walls. This event aspired to build a peaceful world for children to grow.
This newly-established hot spot for visitors in Hue quickly drew attention from school boys and girls, family with young kids to come hang out on weekends or national holidays.

How to get to Hue Mural Village from Hue Center?
It’s a thirty-minute drive from Hue center (if you don’t get lost). Thus, if you feel comfortable hiring a scooter, this will be your cheapest and easiest option. Price to rent a scooter in Hue is $7/ scooter/ day, no gasoline included.

Local Taxi Driver
No scooter? Talk to a local taxi like Mai Linh or Thanh Cong Taxi (reception at your hotel will be able to help with this) and negotiate a price. It’s about 300,000 VND ($13) round trip to get to Hue Mural Village and spend around an hour exploring this place. You’ll want to secure a ride home in advance because there will be no cabs hanging around this hidden corner of Hue.

What else you can see near Hue Mural Village?
As we mentioned above, the drive between Hue Center and Hue Mural Village is only thirty minutes but there’s some gorgeous countryside on the way and plenty of interesting places to visit outside of Hue. Admissions to these sites are free of charge.
Huyen Tran Cultural Center
At the end of Hue Mural Village, there is a temple dedicated to Tran Dynasty Princess Huyen Tran Cong Chua whose marriage to a Cham king. This paved the way for the first Vietnamese settlement in the Central Vietnam.
You can visit her temple in the main area then climb to the top of the hill to ring the “Peace Bell Tower”. There should be spectacular view to reward your effort as well.
Nam Giao Esplanade
Nam Giao is the most important royal ritual place in Hue built by Emperor Gia Long in 1806. Nguyen Emperors used this three-terraced altar to make sacrificial offerings to heaven on behalf of the nation.
Tu Hieu Pagoda
Originated as a small Buddhist retreat Venerable Nhat Dinh used to look after his sick mother, Tu Hieu was enlarged over time by great financial support from many Imperial Eunuchs. Meaning “Merciful Piety”, Tu Hieu nowadays is famous for its zenful atmosphere and historic values. Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh was said to become official monk in this pagoda as well.
Vong Canh Hill and Thuy Tien Abanboned Water Park
Next to Tu Hieu Pagoda is the infamous Vong Canh Hill and if you are up for an adventure, the Abandoned Water Park is just around the corner.
Notice: Up to this day, Ho Thuy Tien is closed to public. There would be a few security guards who stop you at the entrance, you might need to give him some money such as 50,000 VND/ group. He would let you in. Be sure not to swim in the lake or smoke in the woods within the area. You are good to explore!
Thien Tam Vegetarian Restaurant
Hungry? Time for a tasty vegetarian lunch at Thien Tam restaurant. This place was set up by a Buddhism-influenced artist, who also has his gallery in here. Their food is excellent with a great variety of options to choose from. We highly recommend their mush-room hot pot or stir-fry rice with veggies.
Hoa Nen Traditional Oil Souvenir Store
One of the most practical souvenirs made-in-Hue you can buy is the essential oils. Hoa Nen Store, just opposite Thien Tam restaurant, is an ideal place for you to do some feet massage and learn how Hue people make essential oils from tree leaves. They have many kinds of fragrances to choose from and their packaging is artistic and light to bring home for your friends.
